Head Space is our onsite mentoring suite.听 Mission statement `Improved mind set for future success`
Mentoring is needed more than ever.
Key statistics:
- Students with a mentor are 52% less likely to skip a day of school.
- 87% of mentors and mentees say that their mentoring relationships make them feel empowered and assist them to develop a more prominent sense of confidence in themselves.
- 97% of individuals with a mentor feel they are highly impactful and valuable.
- 89% of individuals mentored will mentor someone in the future.
Aims of Head Space:
- Offer one-to-one and group mentoring support sessions to improve mindset when achieving personal goals听听
- Meetings carried out in a safe environment, record progress and evidence benefits听听听
- Reach an agreed set of goals varying between attendance, mental health and behaviour to support everyday life听听听
- Improving relationships in school and the wider community听听
Students can be referred to mentoring by their Head of Year or Pastoral Manager听
What the mentor aims to achieve:听
- Improve social skills and emotional resilience:鈥�Encourage students to be better leaders by enabling them to relate to different kinds of people. Help them develop strong communication skills so they can handle any situation at home and the wider.听
- Boost self-esteem:鈥疊e a champion. Believe in a young person. Recognise and celebrate the student success with themselves and families听
- Provide career exploration:鈥� To support career opportunities, helping students to brainstorm career possibilities, define career goals and establish action plans to reach professional goals. Be an advocate of networking opportunities for students.听
- Support academic activities:鈥疍epending on the circumstance, serve as an important all-round tutor to support academic success and mindset.听
- Be that other person:鈥疭ome students, especially the older ones, find it difficult to talk to their parents or friends about听
